Steven Campbell Launches Campbell Kind Wine
with a Mission to Lower Carbon Footprint One Sip at a Time
Toronto, ON October 16, 2019 – Steven Campbell, President of Lifford Wine & Spirits, is taking sustainable wines to new heights with his international collaborative Campbell Kind Wine (CKW) project. Campbell Kind Wine showcases a collection of eight Carbon Neutral wines from six countries, the first three of which will be launched at the Toronto LCBO Summerhill store on October 23rd, 2019.
Produced in small lots by some of the world’s most acclaimed winemakers from some of the world’s finest wine regions, Campbell Kind Wines are designed to over-deliver on price while allowing Canadian wine lovers to reduce their carbon footprint one sip at a time. The climate impact of these wines will be measured by Carbonzero with plans to offset any production emissions by the planting of trees in conjunction with Tree Canada.
“My vision of Campbell Kind Wine is both as a great beverage that people will be happy to drink with friends and families but also as a beacon to other providers of consumer goods. If you give people an affordable opportunity to lighten the carbon footprint, they will,” said Steven Campbell.
On-going work in sustainability grants Steven an Honorary Doctorate from York University
Since launching in 1994, his company Lifford Wine and Spirits has honoured its uniqueness by standing as both Bull Frog Powered and Carbon Neutral. The company’s collaboration with Tree Canada to date has resulted in the planting of over 91,000 trees throughout Ontario. In August of 2019, it was announced that York University has recognized Steven for his outstanding dedication to environmental leadership and will add him to the 2019 list of Honorary Doctorates. Today, Steven will attend his convocation to accept his honourary doctorate from York University.
With the launch of Campbell Kind Wines, Steven’s environmental stewardship continues and will fulfill his long-held desire to produce the first international brand of sustainable wines. On Saturday, October 26th, three wines will be released at Vintages. A South African Syrah by Bruce Jack ($14.95), a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc by Steve Smith MW ($19.95), and an organic Rosso from Telmo Rodriguez in Spain ($19.95).
